Story

She danced on the edge of conformity, a rebel with an untamed spirit. Defying norms was her anthem, and she painted the canvas of life with strokes of nonconformity. Yet, amidst her rebellion, a deep reverence for tradition lingered in her soul. Her eyes sparkled with stories of ancestors, and her hands practiced arts handed down through generations. She lived her life at the glorious cusp of rebellion and tradition. She redefined norms while keeping ancient wisdom alive. In her, the fire of defiance and the warmth of heritage coexisted, creating a woman who walked her own path, enlightened by the torches of both revolution and legacy.

Be a rebel with a cause when you wear this maroon saree that’s made of handloom cotton and woven in the Begumpuri style.

Description

Begumpuri sarees bear a historical legacy rooted in Bengal's rich textile heritage. Named after Begumpur, a village in West Bengal, these sarees were favoured by queens and noblewomen. Originating in the 17th century, they showcase a distinctive chequered pattern, and are a symbol of timeless elegance.
These sarees are a tribute to Indian handloom artistry and entail a meticulous crafting process. Skilled weavers transform unbleached cotton into these timeless drapes using traditional pit looms. The unassuming beauty of these sarees lies in their simplicity, where centuries-old craftsmanship and skill take centre stage. On average, it takes a weaver around three to five days of dedicated weaving to complete a Begumpuri saree.
