Story
In her hometown, houses were much more than mere shelters. Every house told a story, of its community and of the families it nurtured. She vividly recalled coming back from school and standing outside the door, pointing a tiny finger at the door. Then, drawing up her shoulders, she would ceremoniously recite the four magical words, “khul ja sim sim”. The door would open to reveal her father’s beaming smile and her mother’s welcoming arms. This was their family’s little secret, which only they knew. But the door also told other stories to those who listened – the intricate floral carvings on it depicted how many families lived there together, while the fish and curvy motif on its borders depicted that the family owned a restaurant.
Let this exquisite brown modal viscose saree remind you of all the stories and legacies that are embedded in the doors of India.
Description
Viscose and modal are fibres derived from plants. They comprise a compound called cellulose, which lends stiffness and support to plants. This cellulose is extracted and then realigned, to create a fabric that is soft, durable and breathable. When both the fibres are combined, modal imparts lightness, and a fine feel to the fabric. Both the fibres are responsibly sourced and have a low carbon footprint.
