Description

Gajji silk was introduced to India in the 18th century. It is made of pure silk fibres and is woven on a Jacquard loom. This fabric is very lightweight, which makes it ideal for wearing over extended periods of time. The inherent sheen of the silk is further accentuated with Bandhani, an ancient tie-dye technique that dates back to 4,000 BCE. Bandhani is a highly skilled process and involves tying portions of the fabric with thread before dying, to produce intricate patterns. This stunning purple saree is further adorned with zari details, to further add to its regal allure.
