Story
It was her first time at the beach. Born and raised in a concrete jungle, her only brush with nature had been at the city’s scarce parks. That changed when her mother decided to take her and her younger brother to a seaside getaway. She was overwhelmed by the restless waves that sparkled in the late afternoon sun, the coarseness of the golden sand under her bare feet, and the iridescent colours that lit up the sky when the sun went down. While she was taking it all in, her brother called for her, waving something excitedly. “Is it a unicorn horn?” he asked, his eyes wide open with wonder. She knew it was only a seashell but did not have the heart to correct his innocent query. On a day as magical as the one they’d just spent, it was only befitting that the shell he’d found was called a unicorn horn.
