‘Su’ and ‘Ta’ are truly models of sisterhood, weaving their stories and experiences into exquisite products and a powerful brand. Quitting their corporate jobs to pursue their vision of uplifting artisanal communities and as well as their passion for photography, Sujata and Taniya founded Suta, which, coincidentally, a word that is the perfect combination of both their names and also means ‘thread’ and ‘daughter’ in Sanskrit. Plunging headfirst into the world of entrepreneurship, their unwavering love and support for each other was the sail that ushered them through the choppiest waters. A question they’re often asked is how they’ve managed to maintain such a strong and healthy relationship while balancing their professional lives and they invariably answer, “we never take a fight to bed; we always find a way to solve our disagreements before the day ends”.
As different as day and night, but as close as two coats of paint, they’ve been constants through thick and thin and continue to complement each-other’s personalities and quirks. Through the long walks they took through open grass fields on their way to Odissi dance classes and the daily calls they’d make to each other when they were apart during their hectic corporate jobs, they forged and strengthened a beautiful, inseparable bond that has laid the foundation for Suta.
