Story
On her thirtieth birthday, she was surrounded by more concerned frowns than happy smiles. She knew her family loved her, but they worried too much. They worried that she didn’t have a stable job. That she didn’t have a boyfriend and didn’t want to be tied down by an arranged match. She didn’t have a house to her name. She didn’t have a vehicle she called her own. As far as they were concerned, her life was a mess and they didn’t see how she wasn’t bothered by it. What they didn’t see was the many sleepless nights she’d spend chasing after the perfect sunrise. The monumental efforts she’d invested in tracking poaching in one of the most dangerous jungles in the world. All the lives she’d touched and all the grateful prayers she’d earned. Perhaps one day they would realise. Perhaps they wouldn’t – she wasn’t too bothered by either proposition. What concerned her however was continuing the work that she’d been fortunate to pursue.
Let the boss babe in you shine through, when you wear this striking black pre-draped saree made of handloom mul cotton.
Description
Our ‘made in heaven’ mul cotton, is also known as mul mul in West Bengal. The fabric is buttery soft and has a delicate beauty. Its weave is very fine and this lends a very fluid texture to the fabric, which makes draping it a breeze. It truly is like a hug that wraps you in its love.
Handloom mul cotton is handwoven by our weavers by hand on mechanical looms. The process is time and labour-intensive, using techniques that have been passed down across generations of artisans. The resultant fabric is extraordinarily soft, breathable and resilient, and also drapes very well. Using handloom fabrics not only helps us to work with smaller weavers but also plays an important role in reducing the environmental footprint of the garments we produce.
